I grew up in Hong Kong and come from a family of physicians. I wanted to become a physician from the time I was young. My high school and university years were spent in the United Kingdom. Following a... research fellowship at the Mayo Clinic, where I studied the genetics of thyroid cancer, I came to UC San Diego for my endocrinology fellowship. After the completion of my training, I decided to stay in San Diego, where my family and I enjoy the beautiful environment and diverse community life. I continue to be active as a teaching faculty member at UC San Diego, educating medical students, physicians, patients, and the public. I serve as a board member of the American Diabetes Association Community Leadership Board and the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies.
