Dr. Hockensmith earned her undergraduate degree in her home state of Texas at Southern Methodist University. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center... at San Antonio. An interest in transplant, dialysis and critical care brought Dr. Hockensmith to Colorado for her Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Upon completion, she became board certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology and joined Pikes Peak Nephrology Associates. Dr. Hockensmith chooses to work with the physicians at Pikes Peak Nephrology because of their strong work ethic and team approach to medicine. Dr. Hockensmith's patients are grateful for her career choice. She earned 100 percent patient satisfaction in 2012, according to the Hospital Consumer Assessment Survey. She was named one of 2013's Top Doctors in Nephrology by Colorado Springs Style magazine, and USA Today cited her as one of the nation's most influential doctors in 2009. Dr. Hockensmith currently serves as medical director of the Liberty Home Dialysis program. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Society of Nephrology. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Kidney Foundation.
